Day 49: The Best Roadtrip EVER!

This post is about yesterday, but I couldn't post yesterday, because I was in Sault Ste. Marie and didn't get back until around 12:30, and I was exhausted. So here it is today.

It's 3 hours to the Soo, and it was a very great 3 hours. My cousin, who's a senior in high school, was playing in the quarter-final state championship games. We took my sister's car, and she promised me I would have good music.

"I made 3 awesome CDs for the ride there," she said. "Unless they play Nickelback at the game, you won't have to hear them at all."

And it was great. The CDs had Taking Back Sunday, Bon Jovi, "Wonderwall!" Anything I ever could've asked for.

And I did hear Nickelback at the game. Believe it or not. In a mash-up of pump up hip hop, here comes Nickelback's "Too Bad." But it was ok. Just a little funny.

On the way there, we stopped in Christmas and got a picture with the gigantic Santa Claus. We also had to stop in Newberry, because Terry O'Quinn, who plays John Locke on "Lost" is from there. We played a game, guessing if every person we saw was his brother, or if every house we saw was his old house. It was amusing. We also found out that Newberry is the Moose Capital of Michigan. How's that for something new?

The best part of the night was the nerve-wrackingly close game. The biggest point difference of the entire game was 11 points. We were either ahead of the other team, or tied the whole game. In the end, good old Ontonagon pulled through, and won 50-47! Crazy! So, for the second year in a row, my cousin's team is going to state semifinals in Lansing! They play tomorrow, and I've got my fingers crossed! Everyone keep yours crossed, too. It took Ontonagon 20 years to get into the semifinals again, and now it's two years in a row. Can they get to the finals? I surely hope so!
